Crafted from figured maple, this Solid Slab Style kitchen island was built from a single slab rather than two separate slabs joined with a traditional river. After the slab was cut to its rectangular form, a naturally occurring void running through the center was preserved and filled with black solid-tone epoxy, creating the appearance of a river while maintaining the continuity and character of one continuous piece of wood. The maple’s soft figure, warm coloring, and contrasting bowtie joinery further highlight the handcrafted nature of the design.
